Referring to the genre of music called Barbershop Harmony. The style of music has close harmonies and usually minor chords. The prototypical group of Barbershop singers is a quartet of men, singing parts Tenor (often falsetto), Lead (the melody), Baritone, and Bass. Quartets of women are common, often keeping the names of the parts. Choruses are also common. There are many clubs for this genre, including The Barbershop Harmony Society (also called the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of BarberShop Quartet Singing in America, SPEBSQSA) and Sweet Adelines.
